Our Story

The Chocolate Project is an initiative that strives to promote love, respect and sisterhood in the Black women and femme community through bonding and artistic spaces. We believe that community and art are central to our collective liberation as Black people.
Olivia Fenty started the project in 2015 for a number of reasons. First, to address the need for safe spaces centered on the Black femme experience, and our unique position within society. Black femmes are often lost in the cracks of conversations about Blackness and femininity, which leads to our harm being overlooked. Moreover, to convey more honest narratives about Black femmes that reflect all of our multifaceted voices, and experiences.
With this in mind, The Chocolate Project is a space where Black folks with any connection to femme identity can be heard and in community with other Black femmes.
