MOE.
aka Monique & Sade

Who is Moe?

Picture
My name is Monique AKA Moe AKA Sade. I am 20 years old, from Brooklyn, New York with a Bajan background.

I am a poetress and a model. As a poet, before I write down any words I always unconsciously or sometimes consciously think about what I intend for this piece to be about. When it comes to creating, feelings can be intentions, and if I'm feeling sad, happy, joyful, love I intent to make the piece be just like that  As a model, I always want to make people feel comfortable in their skin + their body so the content I involve myself in always revolves around themes of acceptance, beauty, nature and more.

How do you define a creative?

To me a creative is someone who creates with a  purpose. Someone who puts intention, thought, soul, love, and spirit into their craft. I don’t think the term “creative“ should be nullifed into a singular expression, we can all be creatives, we all create every single day of our lives but, it’s important for the creation to have the intention of being purposeful.

Why do you create?

I create because it keeps me sane. Creation makes me sane. Art makes me sane. I’m not saying that I am the opposite of sane when I don’t create, I’m pinpointing at the fact that creation and art gives me feelings of reason, sense, and realizations.

Why is important as a Black women to create?

It’s important for me as a black woman to create so I can make my sisters feel recognized, like when they see something of mine and can think “me too“ or  “i understand this experience“ but my audience is not just black woman, I do intend for black men to understand my content, and for non poc or non black people to understand as well.
