Who is Capella?
How do you define a creative?

A creative is someone who can turn nothing into something just by using his/her imagination. A creative is also one who takes his/her original ideas and turns them into performing, fine, or liberal arts.
Why do you create?
I create because creating gives me a sense of control. I create whenever, however, and whatever I want. Creating is also a way to release suppressed energy, tap into areas in you that you’ve never discovered, and a great way to practice inner peace. Considering that black women stress so very often, creating is extremely therapeutic. As a creative, using your imagination is the main ingredient.

What makes you a creative?
Being myself makes me the best creative that I am. My experiences, sympathy, and my understanding of the world also makes me a creative/creator. I am an extremely sensitive person and I know how to channel that to then create according to people’s needs. Artistic endeavors come easily to me. I am extremely passionate about everything that I do and I know that my duty here is to change the world through compassion, art, and love.

Why is it important to create as a Black woman?
Black women have been taught to silence themselves for the sake of society’s comfort for too long. We’ve been degraded, placed on the back burner, and overlooked for many decades. Women of color go through more hardship than anyone else in this world. Creating is what keeps us alive. Sharing our ideas and experiences with the world is what brings us liberation and a sense of hope. Growing up and feeling like your feelings, voice, or hard work doesn’t matter is traumatizing. We’ve been told we weren’t good enough, that we’re only important through the eyes of a man, and underpaid for decades. Black women creating is a movement, a lifestyle, and a JOB. Without black women creatives the world would be lost.
